CALL TO ORDER MILLBRAE CITY COUNCIL Video Time: 11:17
Mayor Stephen Rainaldi called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m.
ROLL CALL: Mayor Stephen Rainaldi, Vice Mayor Anders Fung, and Councilmembers Sissy Riley, and Bob Nguyen were present in the Council Chamber.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
The Millbrae City Council acknowledges that we occupy the unceded ancestral, traditional, and contemporary homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone peoples, who are the original inhabitants of the San Francisco Peninsula. We wish to pay our respects to the Ancestors and Relatives of the Ramaytush Community and to affirm their sovereign rights as First Peoples. We recognize that the Ramaytush Ohlone have lived in harmony with nature for millennia, and that to achieve a truly ecologically sustainable future for Millbrae, we must embrace Indigenous traditional ecological knowledge in how we care for the city's lands, waters, and all its people. We will continue to uplift and foster a meaningful relationship with the Ramaytush Ohlone community, and we encourage all to visit www.ramaytush. org to learn more about the Ramaytush Ohlone people.
PLANNING COMMISSION INTERVIEWS Video Time: 11:56
There are two open positions on the Planning Commission for a full four-year term ending June 30, 2030. Three candidates were invited to be interviewed:
• Ken Leland
Maureen Davis
• Nathan Chan
Mayor Rainaldi provided an overview of the interview process. Each applicant has twenty minutes to answer the same two questions from each Councilmember at the podium, a total of eight questions. For fairness, applicants will wait in the City Hall lobby until invited into the Council Chamber for their interview. Once interviewed, applicants may remain in the Council Chamber. The use of mobile devices during the interview process is prohibited.
Applicant Maureen Davis has notified staff that she is unable to attend the interview due to a previously scheduled commitment and provided a written statement for the City Council's consideration. A copy of the statement was distributed to the Council and made available online for public review.
Applicant Ken Leland was interviewed first, followed by Applicant Nathan Chan.
Appointment to the Planning Commission will be considered at the 7:00 p.m. regular City Council meeting.
