Minutes: City Council Transportation Subcommittee

1. Call to order and Roll Call – Meeting was called to order by Mayor Montano at 4:30 PM. Mayor Montano and Vice Mayor Chua were present.

4. Public Forum
Rob Means, a member of the public, requested the Transportation Subcommittee to agendize a Loopworks Personal Rapid Transit presentation for the next subcommittee so he may make a presentation. The Subcommittee approved the request to agendize this item for the next meeting.
5. New Business
Citywide Traffic Safety Assessment Project – Crash History Review Staff presented the most recent 5-year crash history of the city. A public outreach workshop is scheduled for May 17th to solicit input on traffic safety-related matters not captured in the recorded crash data. Safety countermeasures will be developed to address the specific crash types identified in the crash history data and the traffic safety challenges raised by the public. A draft report with priority locations and preliminary countermeasure recommendations will be brought to the subcommittee to provide feedback in the fall, and a final citywide traffic safety plan will be brought to the city council for adoption consideration by the end of the year. a. Calaveras Boulevard Widening Project Updates
The Project Approval and Environmental Documentation phase of the project is currently underway and scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024. The city continues to pursue funding to advance the project. The next project phase, Final Design/Right of Way Clearance, is scheduled to begin in 2025 pending funding availability. Mayor Montano requested that this item be brought back to the next meeting for discussion.
