Recommendation: Accept the resignations of Rachel Plummer and Natalie Chen from the Youth Advisory Commission, Jose Rosario and Mike Bilbao from the Community Advisory Commission, Paul Medawar from the Economic Development and Trade Commission, and Chris Salian and Vikash Venkataramana from the Energy and Environmental Sustainability Commission; and direct the City Clerk to post the notice of unscheduled vacancies.
BACKGROUND:
In accordance with the City of Milpitas Commission By-Laws adopted as Resolution No. 7702, any member or alternate member of a Commission who is no longer available to serve, must submit a resignation in writing by sending a written communication to the Mayor and the City Clerk. The written resignation must then be accepted and confirmed by City Council via action on the consent calendar at a regularly scheduled City Council meeting. Rachel Plummer and Natalie Chen from the Youth Advisory Commission, Jose Rosario from the Community Advisory Commission, Paul Medawar from the Economic Development and Trade Commission, and Chris Salian and Vikash Venkataramana from the Energy and Environmental Sustainability Commission submitted notices of resignation.
ANALYSIS:
By state law, a Notice of an Unscheduled Vacancy must be posted by the City Clerk to advertise the vacant Commission seat. Final appointment to the board, commission, or committee for the Unscheduled Vacancy shall not be made by the legislative body for at least ten working days after the posting of the notice in the Clerk’s office. The notices of unscheduled vacancies for the Youth Advisory Commission, Community Advisory Commission, Economic Development and Trade Commission, and Energy and Environmental Sustainability Commission will be posted Wednesday, August 9, 2023.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact associated with this item.
RECOMMENDATION:
Accept the resignations of Rachel Plummer and Natalie Chen from the Youth Advisory Commission, Jose Rosario and Mike Bilbao from the Community Advisory Commission, Paul Medawar from the Economic Development and Trade Commission, and Chris Salian and Vikash Venkataramana from the Energy and Environmental Sustainability Commission; and direct the City Clerk to post the notice of unscheduled vacancies.
