PUBLIC COMMENTS IN PERSON
Tim Ragsdale, a long-time Modesto resident and property owner, expressed his strong support for the current City Council, praising them as the best he's seen in decades. He and his wife, a schoolteacher, are disturbed by the disrespectful and toxic behavior of some individuals addressing the Council. Ragsdale suggested that the City should consider cutting the TV feed or microphone when such behavior occurs, to avoid amplifying negativity. He wanted to voice his support and offer a solution to the problem. Emerson Drake acknowledged the importance of public speech, even when it comes from those who may be disruptive or use offensive language. He defended the right of the public to voice their opinions, including criticisms of the Police Department and City policies. He argued that such voices are crucial for bringing about change and improvements in Modesto, emphasizing that their concerns should be heard, even if they are expressed in a frustrating manner.
