PUBLIC COMMENT IN PERSON
 Betty Santos, a representative of the Central Valley Chapter of West Coast Customs shared her positive experience at the recent American Graffiti event. She assisted Councilmember Jeremiah Williams with car parking and reported strong collaboration and communication among volunteers, including groups like Motown Classics. She noted that over a thousand cars were parked within about 75 minutes. Santos praised the event’s family-friendly atmosphere and the involvement of community groups.

However, she expressed a safety concern regarding some younger drivers exiting the MJC area at high speeds while families were still crossing the street. She asked Councilmember Williams to relay this concern to the Kiwanis to help ensure future events remain safe for all attendees.
 Byron Frith expressed gratitude for the opportunity to speak and shared concerns about his housing situation at Ralston Towers. He believed his unit would be covered by Section 8 upon moving in but recently learned that may not be the case. He is unsure how much longer he can afford to stay and wanted to make his situation known.  Danielle Morgart, representing Assemblyman Juan Alanis, invited the Council and community to a blood drive on June 20th in Modesto, co-hosted with the Red Cross.

She also provided a legislative update, noting that 482 Assembly Bills, including seven by Alanis, have advanced to the Senate. She encouraged anyone with questions to contact their office.
 Lucas expressed appreciation for the Modesto Police Department’s efforts and their investment in new crime-fighting technology, such as Zero Eyes, which he supports for future use. He acknowledged a general decline in crime, with some concerns about violent crime, and recognized the recent loss of an officer in Los Angeles, offering condolences to the officer’s family.
