Dear Mayor Salvador Melendez and Members of the Montebello City Council,

My name is Carla Escobar, and I am a proud resident of Montebello. I am writing to express my strong support for the appointment of James Santana to the vacant District 5 City Council seat.

As someone who cares deeply about our community, I believe that James Santana is uniquely qualified to represent us during this pivotal time. Born and raised in Montebello, James has dedicated his life to serving our city. From his leadership as Chair of the Parks and Recreation Commission to his nearly 20 years of professional experience in operations and organizational development, James has consistently demonstrated the skills and commitment needed to address the challenges we face.

Montebello needs leaders who will prioritize public safety, economic development, and transparency in governance. James’s track record of collaboration and accountability makes him the ideal candidate to advocate for our community and ensure progress for all residents.

I respectfully urge you to appoint James Santana to the District 5 seat. However, if the council is unable to reach a decision, I strongly request that you hold an election so the residents of District 5 can have their voices heard in choosing their representative.

Thank you for your time and for considering my perspective as a Montebello resident.

Sincerely,
Carla Escobar

My name is Delia López, and I am a resident of Montebello. I am writing to express my strong support for the appointment of James Santana to the District 5 City Council seat.

As someone who cares deeply about our community, I believe that James is uniquely qualified to represent us during this crucial time. Born and raised in Montebello, James has dedicated his life to serving our city. From his leadership as Chair of the Parks and Recreation Commission to his nearly 20 years of professional experience in operations and organizational development, James has consistently demonstrated the commitment and skills needed to address the challenges we face.

I have seen how James rallies behind issues important to Montebello and champions the needs of his community, especially when we served on the Parks and Rec committee together.

Seeing this commitment, I know he will put his knowledge and dedication to work for our city, especially District 5.

I respectfully urge you to appoint James Santana to the District 5 seat. I do hope that the right decision and vote is taken at this meeting, and would request that future vacancies be communicated with more time and with more information so that all residents are aware of the opportunity (in the case they want to be considered) but also to better understand the process by which appointments work.

I would request an election but also know the financial commitment required for this and knowing the tight budgetary restrictions the city currently operates under, my hope is that you take into consideration equally and without bias each of the candidates that comes before you tonight.

Thank you for your time and for considering my perspective as a Montebello resident for the appointment of James Santana.

Respectfully,
Delia López

Afterall, we the people decide who gets the seat or not, and not the council on their own to decide who as it sounds mighty shady!!
