August 13, 2025
Good Evening, Honorable Mayor Melendez and Staff,
community.
I would like to wish our group MATCH90640 (Montebello
Activist to Clean House 90640) a happy Anniversary.
Ten years ago today August 13, 2015 a group of concern
residents decide we needed to form a group to help our
Community. We each had an equal voice, we never had a
president.
We were called by parents with children at Bella Vista
Elementary school, asking for our help. There was a gas leak on school property, and Southern California Gas Company shut off all gas to school, which meant cold school rooms, no hot water in restrooms and no hot lunches.
We wrote letters to our Legislators, we spoke at MUSD
Board meetings and complained about the abuse in
spending of the School Bond money in the millions.
We were successful in causing the Audit of School board's actions and wasteful spending of Bond money. The MUSD
was put under Conservatorship and not even a pencil could be purchased without permission, by School Board
members.
That is when we wrote to our Legislators regarding the illegal contract and wasteful money being spent here in out city by former Council members.
On May 16, 2018 members of our group went to
Sacramento and testified before the Joint Legislative Auditor Committee and made history. We won a unanimous 13-0
Full Forensic Audit, deeming our city a High Risk
Municipality.
The report read 14 out of the 16 contracts awarded were in fact illegally done.
We are proud to continue to help our community, and are happy to see two groups like Montebello Voices and
Montebello United also looking out for our city, they are the young guards, now protecting us.
On another note Scarlet you're pathic dog park is putting dogs in danger. Here is a picture showing the temperature of rubber ground cover in dog park at 127 degrees! The
asphalt in the street was 129 degrees, so basically owners are letting their dogs burn their paws and inhale toxic fumes, being released from rubber ground cover. I dare you Scarlet to go walk bare feet around dog park for 20 minutes at 2pm and let's see the blisters on your feet. Shame on you.
Wonder if Blue beard will call KTLA and let them report on this toxic dog park now.
