Dear Mayor
As a second-generation Monterey County native, I have deep roots in this community. My children are proud graduates of Monterey High School, having gone through the MPUSD system, and I have owned and operated a business in downtown Monterey for over 30 years.
I had the privilege of serving on the Architectural Review Committee for five years, and that experience further strengthened my commitment to thoughtful, community-minded development. I’m eager to continue contributing to the city I care so deeply about by serving on the Planning Commission.
Thank you for considering my application.
Sincerely,
Patrick Tregenza

Hello,
I am applying to be on the NCIP Committee as an alternative for Del Monte Beach Neighborhood. I have lived here for over a decade and have gotten to know the neighbors, neighborhood, and recognize the needs of our unique neighborhood.
I regularly help with the neighborhood clean-ups, and was a leading participant in the trial of the residential composting program in our neighborhood. I have participated for years with the dunes restoration, and this environmental interest has led me to connect with the Community Planning Liaison Officer for the Naval Support Activity Monterey. Our property is adjacent to the Navy sand dunes and in the interest of the our neighborhood, and safety, I have communicated with this Officer about homeless encampments, signage, and invasive plant species.
I also regularly call the company that services our portable toilets when the doors are broken, etc.
I use the beach regularly as a stand-up paddler.
In general I actively care about our neighborhood and would be happy to serve in this capacity.
I am a retired oncology nurse, and presently a volunteer and the Outreach Coordinator for Healing Partners of the Central Coast, a non-profit that offers cancer patients in the community 8 free Healing Touch sessions (and participates in many other community events).
I appreciate your consideration.
Sincerely,
Caroline.

Julieta
Dear Friends,
I would like to express my strong interest in joining your team, particularly as I approach retirement in October. I graduated as an Agricultural Engineer in 1981 in Santiago, Chile, and my passion for plants and their vital role in our environment has only grown since.
I am dedicated to helping plants thrive, recognizing their contributions to oxygenation, beauty, supporting beneficial insects, pollinators, and birds, and providing essential shade.
I have observed the long-standing neglect of plant species in the Monterey Peninsula's Parks and am eager to contribute my expertise to their revitalization. I am confident that my experience and passion can be of significant benefit to your team.
Thank you for considering my application.
Sincerely,
Julieta Nazal

Served as Deer Flats neighborhood NIP Representative from 2015 through 2023. In 2024, I recruited Scott Cohick from the Deer Flats neighborhood to apply to serve as NCIP Rep while I continued to serve as the Alternate for the 2024-2025 cycle (as approved by the City of Monterey). Scott recently announced his family decision to relocate from Monterey, California to a new residence in the State of Florida, and tendered his resignation from the NCIP Committee to the City of Monterey. I am applying to fill the vacancy as the Deer Flats neighborhood NCIP Rep until such time that I am able to recruit someone else in the Deer Flats neighborhood to apply and replace me as the primary NCIP Rep.

I am the Founder and CEO of DKomplex, a Monterey-based firm that helps organizations simplify complex problems through thoughtful planning, technology, and human-centered design. Founded in 2017, DKomplex employs 23 people and supports clients across government, manufacturing, and community sectors. My work often involves guiding organizations through structured processes to improve operations and make informed decisions, skills that directly translate to effective planning and development review.
I hold a Master’s in Public Administration from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies in Monterey and a Bachelor’s in Political Science from Stockton University. I also served in the United States Air Force from 2005 to 2011, where I learned the value of discipline, teamwork, and service, principles that continue to shape my leadership and community involvement.
Beyond my volunteer work, I serve as President of Veterans For Peace, Chapter 46, helping coordinate civic engagement and community activism in Monterey and nationally. I’ve recently begun participating in local neighborhood and planning discussions to better understand the priorities and concerns of residents as Monterey continues to grow and evolve.
I believe that planning is an act of creating our future. The future is what we think could happen. When we focus with intention, reflecting on what has happened in the past and what is happening now, we can shape what could happen next. And when taken seriously, that vision often becomes reality.
Having the opportunity to help create the future of Monterey is an exciting prospect. I plan to live here for the rest of my life and, as my wife and I prepare to start a family, I want to leave a meaningful mark on behalf of city residents.
