Co-Chair, USC Asian Pacific Islander Faculty Staff Association (May 2021-August 2023); Bella Vista Elementary Parent Teacher Association (2022 - present); KCRW pledge taker (2013-201); Dance Camera West volunteer (2013-2015) Provide a brief review of your background, qualifications, education and your interest in serving the City:* I have been going to the library since I was a child and now enjoy taking my child to the library. The staff has taken great care to be good stewards of the space, as well as good stewards of the community overall. That really provides a strong motivation to want to be a part of heralding and supporting their vision.

I believe I am uniquely qualified to serve on the Library's board of trustees, having professional experience in a cross-section of higher education, public administration, and cultural institutions. I am in the process of completing my Master in Public Administration from the University of Southern California at the end of December 2023 where I've taken coursework in areas such as nonprofit management, finance and economics, behavioral science, and collaborative governance. Serving as a higher education administrative professional with over 15 years of experience, I work in several different areas such as program management, student affairs, curriculum development, and events management. My art history undergraduate degree and eye for detail has been as asset, having been the lead coordinator for several art performances and public talks as a part of USC Roski School of Art and Design, so I am aware of the various levels of curation and coordination necessary to engage various audiences.

I would love to be able to use my skills in these areas to help give back to my community, as well as get better involved in serving my city. As someone that has worked in nonprofits and is working on my MPA, the idea of public services and giving back is deeply ingrained in my character. I am at a point in my career and life where I would like to seriously consider committing to serving the community for this period.

Thank you for your consideration.

I am a member of the Big Brother Big Sister program.

Provide a brief review of
your background,
qualifications, education
and your interest in serving
the City:

I have been a resident of Monterey Park for about 25 years. I am personally interested in joining the Library Board of Trustees but am open to serving other committees as well.

I am a finance professional graduating from UCSD with a bachelor's degree in economics.

I have an extensive work history in non-profits that I think would be beneficial to the committee. I currently work as the Senior Director of Finance for a local non-profit named Optimist Youth Homes and Family Services. I have previously worked at other agencies such as Children's Institute, UCLA, and City of LA. I believe my work history reflects my passion in giving back to the community and leaving the world better than I found it. I think my financial background in non-profits can be a strong resource for the committee if I am selected.

I have been a patron of the library since I was in second grade.

As a child of an immigrant family, the library has always been a valuable resource for me. I spent most of my childhood at Bruggemeyer Library. From borrowing books, reading
programs, to tutoring, to community events, the library has had such an important role in my life, and I will always have such fond memories of it. I would like to take this opportunity to contribute back to the library.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
