B. VOLUNTEER APPLICATION
1. Why are you interested in serving the Town of Moraga Art on the Public Spaces Committee?
Art and art history have always been an important part of my life. I grew up in a home where creativity was encouraged. My father, although an engineer, loved to paint and draw, and he made sure we spent time visiting museums, exhibits, and performances.
Those experiences stayed with me and shaped my appreciation for the arts. While I didn’t pursue art as a career, it has always been a steady presence in my life. I still enjoy visiting local exhibits, and when I travel, I make a point to spend time in art museums and exploring architecture.
Before retiring, I worked in Human Resources, where I learned how to work well with different kinds of people, solve problems creatively, and contribute as part of a team. I value collaboration and bringing a thoughtful, practical approach to whatever I take on.
Now that I’m retired, I have the time and interest to give back to my community. I’ve lived in Moraga for the past seven years and really appreciate how welcoming and engaged the town is. I would enjoy the opportunity to contribute my time and skills to support local programs and help strengthen the community.

2. What other positions do you currently hold or have held in the past? What is the time commitment you can devote to this position?
I have not held formal public positions, but I spent my career in Human Resources at a large research organization, working closely with people, supporting teams, and helping organizations run effectively. Those experiences gave me a strong foundation in communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
Now that I am retired, I have the time and flexibility to be fully engaged with a new endeavor. I would be able to attend meetings regularly and contribute meaningfully to the committee’s efforts.
C. VOLUNTEER QUESTIONNAIRE
Art in Public Spaces Committee

1. What qualifications, attributes or experience do you possess that will make you a valuable member of the Art in Public Spaces Committee?
Throughout my career in Human Resources, I focused on working with people and building relationships, supporting teams, and helping organizations operate effectively.
Those experiences taught me the value of listening, collaboration, and balancing different perspectives.
I’ve always appreciated how art can enhance a community and bring people together. I would bring a thoughtful, steady approach to the committee and would be committed to contributing in a meaningful and supportive way.
2. What role does public art play in the Moraga community? I think public art helps give Moraga a sense of personality. It makes everyday spaces more interesting and creates small moments where people can connect, whether that’s stopping to look at a piece or just feeling a stronger sense of place. It’s a simple way to bring more life and character into the community.

3. What do you hope to accomplish as a member of this committee? I’d like to contribute ideas to help make Moraga an even more vibrant and welcoming place. Having grown up internationally and traveled quite a bit, I’ve seen how art can really shape a community, bringing people together, adding character, and making shared spaces feel more alive. As a committee member, I’d hope to support projects that are both creative and realistic, whether that’s helping expand community art programs, finding opportunities for public art, or making sure what we do feels inclusive and meaningful to residents.
4. Do you have any experience specific to marketing public art? If yes, please share your experience. If no, how would you suggest this Committee address marketing public art in Moraga?
I don’t have direct experience marketing public art, but I do have experience introducing and promoting new ideas and initiatives. In past roles, I’ve worked on building awareness, engaging different audiences, building consensus, and helping move ideas from concept to execution.
I’d bring that same approach to the committee, focusing on clear communication, community engagement, and finding practical ways to generate interest. That could include highlighting projects through local channels, partnering with schools and community groups, and creating opportunities for residents to connect with and take pride in public art.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Ewa Blair
