TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Brian Mohan, City Manager
AGENDA DATE: December 16, 2025
TITLE: RESOLUTION APPOINTING CITY TREASURER (RESO.
NO. 2025 -XX) (REPORT OF: CITY MANAGER)
(DISTRICT: ALL DISTRICTS)
TITLE SUMMARY: Resolution Appointing City Treasurer (Reso. No. 2025-xx)
DISTRICT: All Districts
Recommendation(s)
That the City Council:
1. Adopt Resolution No. 2025-xx Appointing a City Treasurer.
SUMMARY
California Government Code Section 34856 provides that when the office of the City Treasurer is made appointive, the appointment shall be made by the City Council. The resignation of Dena Heald from Chief Financial Officer/City Treasurer necessitates that a new Treasurer be appointed.
DISCUSSION
Since the incorporation of the City, the Chief Financial Officer (or Finance Director) also held the title and responsibility of City Treasurer. Due to the resignation above, Launa Jimenez is acting in the Chief Financial Officer capacity since she oversees these functions as part of her normal Assistant City Manager (Administration) role. Therefore, it is appropriate at this time for the City Council to adopt the proposed resolution appointing her as City Treasurer.
