DISCUSSION

On June 20, 2023, the City Council approved the City of Moreno Valley’s Public Art Policy, which includes guidelines regarding submittal process, selection criteria, installation, deinstallation, and agreements as it relates to the Public Art Program. It further considers the role of the Public Arts Commission and calls for City Council to make the final decision on all public art on City of Moreno Valley property.

The proposed Media Arts Conference is intended to provide educational and creative programming focused on the film, television, music, digital media, and emerging technology industries. The event will include workshops, keynote presentations, panel discussions, and interactive sessions led by industry professionals. The purpose of the conference is to educate residents, particularly high school students, on career opportunities, technological adva ncements, and pathways to success within media - related fields.

The conference is proposed to be held at the Conference & Recreation Center and would be open to the public for approximately eight hours of programming. Staff has determined that the project is consistent with the Public Art Program's goal of supporting artistic and cultural experiences that provide educational and community enrichment opportunities.

During a meeting held on May 27, 2026, the Public Arts Commission approved the subject application to be forwarded to the City Council for review and final funding consideration.
