CITY COUNCIL REPORTS
Mayor Constantine spoke about our public meetings in this time of having them on virtual platforms. We find ourselves more exposed to inappropriate and at times incredibly vulgar behavior as people Zoom-bomb meetings. He discussed the security measures that we have in place which include holding public meetings as webinars and not allowing participants to share their videos, while still allowing the community to participate by allowing them to raise their virtual hand and have others hear their comments and feedback. Best practices we have implemented include not allowing participants from outside the US to join our meetings and requiring that participants of our meeting run the most current version of zoom. If you are not running the most January 19, 2022
2 current version, you will be prompted to run an update prior to any City meeting. He encouraged residents to run an update before joining the meeting to enable us to unmute if they wish to speak. If you have questions, please send your questions to [email protected] and we will work with staff to have questions answered.
CITY MANAGER'S REPORT
City Manager Christina Turner announced that the January 26, 2022, City Council meeting is canceled, however, we will be holding the City Council's Annual Goal Setting Workshop, on Friday and Saturday, January 28 & 29. She also mentioned that there will be a Town Hall meeting on the January 27 at 5:30 p.m., the topic being the Industrial Lands Preservation and Optimization Policy. She said that we will be bringing forward zoning code amendments, an industrial ordinance, and proposing a new Industrial Lands Preservation and Optimization Policy. It is intended to prohibit standalone warehouse and distribution use Citywide, prohibit general plan conversions of industrial land, prohibit non-compatible uses in industrial buildings to preserve vacancies, expand zoning for medical and office uses, and also encourage conversion of current commercial land to industrial land. She advised to check our online calendar for additional information.
