Criteria for Evaluating the Art
1. Appropriate for the type of events the space is used for. (Various types of community gatherings, some impromptu, some booked in advance through the city. Birthday parties, scouting events, memorials/celebrations of life, community group gatherings, family holiday gatherings, etc.)
2. Appropriate considering who uses the space: a wide cross-section of our community– a very broad demographic (age, race, socioeconomic level, gender, etc.)
3. Tied to our themes of COMMUNITY and INCLUSION.
4. Suitably blended into the larger area. We will take into account the view of the mural from the Magical Bridge playground and from the side where the painted utility box is located.
Ensure that the mural colors and images tie into these other elements to avoid the area looking too busy and/or disjointed.
5. Achievable within our deadline. Avoid anything overly complex or time consuming that may cause project delays.
6. Visually beautiful, uplifting and an enhancement to the community’s enjoyment of the space. Page 433 of 435

A tree is a fountain of life which gives nourishment and it provides protection and shade. The tree represents life and death and the roots are symbols of our beginning and the branches reaching to the heavens represent our end. The branches represent the infinite number of roads and opportunities we select during our lifetime. A tree is majestic, has energy, strength and elegance.
We are creating this mural to beautify the space where the Morgan Hill Community gathers to celebrate their special events such as birthdays, baptisms, family reunions, life of a loved one, and/or to simply spend time with family and friends.
A tree is for everyone, a tree does not exclude anyone. It is elegant and the colors will suit all occasions and allow for Morgan Hill residents to enjoy the location and the tree. -Lina Velasquez Page 435 of 435
