Subject: AB178 FUNDING FOR MORRO BAY?

Dear Bruce
Morro Bay has been shortlisted as a possible location for a “small facility” to support OSW development. We were recently issued a questionnaire (OSW Notice of Funding Availability Scope of Work Questionnaire) and given 30 days to respond.

As you probably know-Morro Bay does not have the staffing capacity to respond to such an important request in 30 days, and we have not received any portion of the $1Mm allocated in AB178. As a result we have not been able to meet the 30 day deadline. It seems we have been left out of the process.

Our Mayor (Wixom) and council member (Ford) have communicated this need on the County, State, and Federal levels. Can you explain why AB178 funding has not been made available to us? Best regards
Jeff Heller

Review responses to SLO County's Notice of Funding Availability.

If Morro Bay is the closest protected port to the Wind Lease Area--and we have been short-listed as a possible "small facility" location, what needs to be done to ensure we get our fair share of the $1,000,000 awarded to SLO County for the next step in the study process ("The O&M Waterfront Infrastructure Facility Study and Site Readiness Plans")? What is our County Supervisors position on this issue? Should we be making an appeal to our elected officials at the State and Federal levels?
The City of Morro Bay needs to be given full consideration for the next step in the process.

Thank you
Jeff Heller
