I am chiming in to add that under RTA consolidation, decisions about routes, schedules, and fares would remain under the control of the Morro Bay City Council. The RTA would not have the ability to change routes, schedules, and fares without Morro Bay City Council approval. The consolidation itself would not come with any changes to routes, schedules, or fares.
Also, I will note that Morro Bay Transit currently does not have a standalone Dial-a-Ride program. We have a deviated fixed route service, which is a fixed route loop around the City that will pick up Call-a-Ride riders that are within ¾ a mile from the loop. The bus on that fixed route then deviates from the route to pick up that rider. This change happened in 2010 when the State cut funding.

I want to acknowledge the receipt of your email. Thank you for sharing your concerns with us, and being a public transit rider. You are not alone in being concerned about losing the transit system. it is our goal to make the current transit services better, with more riders, and possibly more enhanced features, like Wifi on bus. It is not our intention to lose the transit routes. Greg and Janeen can provide more information regarding process and what is next. I also want to add that the city will still have control over how our transit system operates. We have a council seat at the RTA board along with city staff’s technical support. I don’t know if Cambria or Loso’s have their own representations since they are within the unincorporated county, but I know how critical local representation can be in a regional approach.
I’m sorry that the consideration of “consolidation” made you sad. I appreciate your input and look forward to the discussion at council meeting.

2 their personal cars back and forth daily increasing their fuel costs and emissions. There is the possibility that current drivers won't be retained, losing local jobs.
9.) The last bullet point on page 71 of 111 implies there is a potential annual staff savings of $69,700. Doesn't a staff person still have to be a liaison with the contractor, only now the contractor is the County instead of MV? What is the proposed hour differential; it is not identified in the report?
As you would with any contract that is 10 years old, putting out a Request for Proposals (RFP) to see the possibilities would make sense. Both RTA and MV could submit proposals.
Sincerely,
Betty Winholtz

2 "Leads economic development efforts for the City, focusing on the Embarcadero and harbor areas."
Is economic development no long the responsibility of the Community Development Director? I think a small town doesn't need to have on its payroll 2 economic developers.

2 infrastructure projects and funding sources. Whatever that direction is, HAB needs the language and authority to pursue it.
Thank you again for the attention paid to this important issue, and best wishes in today's discussion.
