2 somewhere else, the City still controls its fleet. There is no guarantee the drivers serving us will be hired by the County.
2.) In spite of the comment that the City will decide what level of service it wants and therefore the costs, the County will set the price for those services. As a government agency I suspect they will be less flexible in pricing because they have to be equitable with all jurisdictions, therefore less competitive than a private company wanting the City's business.
3.) Turning over City services to the County is a slippery slope. The City has done it with animal regulation and dispatch, will fire or police try to go that route, again? The City outsources water/sewer bills, business licenses, and STRs. Is Morro Bay step-by-step becoming not a City?
For me, this comes back to the money. Is Council willing to charge Measure Q and E and the General Fund more for transportation, in order to switch the employee in charge of contracts to new duties in Public Works?
Sincerely,
Betty Winholtz
