AGENDA CORRESPONDENCE

CORRESPONDENCE RECEIVED BY THE

CITY COUNCIL FOR PUBLIC REVIEW

PRIOR TO THE MEETING
AGENDA NO: 3a
MEETING DATE: January 28, 2025

2 2. The Policy Statements about Local Governance Finance, Administrative Services, Community Development, Public Safety, and Public Works are already supported by the League of CA Cities. These are boiler plate, unnecessary.

3. The Policy Statement about Climate Change and Nature Resources I would delete.

These kinds of broad statements are why we have issue with BESS, roundabouts, recycling water, and offshore wind turbines.

4. The Policy Statement about Community Services is limited to Park, etc. The only 2 relevant items here are #4 and #5.

5. The Policy Statement about Harbor-Waterfront is why the mayor lobbies Washington, D.C. every year with the blessing and monies of the Morro Bay Commercial Fishermen's Organization.

The overall point of this document is to emphasize and lobby for local control. It doesn't take a Legislative Platform to do that.

I encourage you to not support a Legislative Platform. It is redundant to current practices; it allows for less transparency; and in at least one case--Climate Change--it works against us deciding what is best for Morro Bay.

Sincerely,
Betty Winholtz
