Subject: Recreation and Parks Commission city goal input Staff attended the March 20 Recreation and Parks Commission meeting to discuss city council goals. The following summarizes RPC’s input on future goals.

First, RPC overwhelmingly supports Recreation Services proposed short-term actions, which are:
a. Collaborate with the SLCUSD to provide childcare services by supplementing their struggling Transitional Kindergarten program.
b. Develop a comprehensive community activity guide highlighting programs. PRC viewed this as a community engagement tool.
c. Partner with local agencies, service organizations to enhance the Lighted Boat Parade as well as other winter holiday events. PRC also want to highlight the success of senior programs.

In addition, RPC strongly supports city council’s continued investigation to acquire the Morro Elementary School property for the purposes of maintaining the soccer fields usages as well as preservation of the historical building.

Lastly, RPC supports the maintenance efforts at city’s park facilities and the Morro Rock area.

RPC also proposes city considering adding an exercise trial in one of the city parks.
