Dear Mayor Wixom and City Councilmembers
I am applying for the City of Morro Bay Harbor Department – Harbor Advisory Board member position. I have been interested in this position for quite some time and am thrilled to finally be in a position to submit my application for the at-large designation.
I believe my expertise in local government, including 7 years as Harbor Manager at Port San Luis will be beneficial to the City of Morro Bay, and specifically the Harbor Department. I also have extensive experience working on volunteer boards and enjoy the camaraderie of working with a group of citizens tasked with making recommendations to a governing board/entity.
Looking forward, it seems the Harbor Department as well as the City of Morro Bay is at a crossroads in terms of what the future may hold, specifically with the Waterfront Master Plan and other potential projects. As an advisory Board Member I believe I would be helpful to review information and with my fellow board members make meaningful recommendations to help the City Council make decisions for the future of Morro Bay that will meet the needs of the varied constituents, including residents and visitors.
I look forward to the interview process and should there be any specific information you are interested in after considering my application and resume, please reach out.
Sincerely,
Andrea K. Lueker

Dear Members of the Selection Committee,
I am writing to apply for a volunteer position on the Citizens Finance Committee for the City of Morro Bay. With over 15 years of experience in capital markets, investment management, and nonprofit financial leadership, I am eager to bring my background in fiscal oversight and strategic planning to support the City’s financial health and longterm sustainability.
In my current role as Chief Financial Officer of The Community Foundation San Luis Obispo County, I oversee a $94 million endowment that directly supports local nonprofits and community initiatives. My responsibilities include developing financial strategies, managing investments, ensuring compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, and preparing transparent reports for our Board and stakeholders.
Importantly, I have worked closely with governing bodies to strengthen fiscal accountability, build risk management frameworks, and enhance public trust through clear communication of complex financial matters.
Prior to my nonprofit leadership role, I spent more than a decade in investment and client management at firms such as Goldman Sachs and PIMCO. That experience honed my skills in asset allocation, risk analysis, and stakeholder reporting, competencies I now apply in a civic context to ensure prudent stewardship of community resources.
As a resident of Morro Bay, I am deeply committed to the responsible management of public resources that impact our community’s future. I view service on the Citizens Finance Committee as an opportunity to contribute both technical expertise and a collaborative spirit to ensure our City’s budgeting, oversight, and planning processes remain strong, transparent, and responsive to residents’ needs.
Thank you for considering my application. I would welcome the opportunity to contribute to the City of Morro Bay by serving on the Citizens Finance Committee.
Sincerely,
Michael Jones
