AGENDA CORRESPONDENCE
RECEIVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL FOR
PUBLIC REVIEW PRIOR TO THE
MEETING
AGENDA NO: 7c
MEETING DATE: June 23, 2026
We, as residents of 120 homes in the Cloisters, each contribute a total of $149,184. annually for the maintenance of the 34 acres of public resource lands and improvements within our community. This amount is in addition to the regular property taxes paid for by all residents. We are here today not to protest the assessment, but to voice our concerns and request greater transparency as to how these funds are being spent. We encourage the city to use these funds to maintain the improvements within the Cloisters according to their original design.
At the last city council meeting, we presented information about the need for better oversight and management of the Wetlands: clearing overgrown culverts and addressing the overgrowth in the pond. Our concerns, which we shared with photos, was that the extensive overgrowth in the culvert system and pond restricts the flow of water, preventing both from functioning as intended. Additionally, the encroachment of reeds and willows is shrinking the pond’s designated area and stopping it from working as a healthy Wetland.
Tonight we are asking for better and specific accountability as follows:
• Which city employees will address the Wetlands issues and establish the process and timeline for addressing them? • Which council member(s) will assume responsibility for moving these issues forward as well as updating our residents as to the process and progress while monitoring the ongoing
maintenance within the Cloisters?
