Mountain House Encourages Safe and Responsible Fourth of July City Reminds Residents That All Fireworks Are Prohibited Within City Limits Mountain House, CA — As the nation prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence on July 4, the City of Mountain House is reminding residents that all fireworks are prohibited within city limits under Section 4-1-108 of the Mountain House Municipal Code. The City's public safety campaign aims to reduce the risk of fires, injuries, property damage, and emergency responses during the holiday period.

While families and friends gather to celebrate Independence Day, the City encourages residents to celebrate responsibly and help protect neighborhoods from preventable emergencies. Under City regulations, it is unlawful to sell, transport, possess, use, or discharge any fireworks within the City of Mountain House, including dangerous fireworks and so-called safe and sane fireworks.

The City of Mountain House, Mountain House Fire Department, Mountain House Police Services, and Mountain House Security Services will work together throughout the holiday period to educate residents and respond to reported violations.

Property owners, occupants, and other individuals present where fireworks are used may be held responsible for violations. Fireworks may be seized and destroyed, and violators may be subject to criminal penalties, administrative fines, and recovery of emergency response costs.

Administrative penalties for possession of dangerous fireworks may include:
• $1,250 for a first offense
• $2,500 for a second offense within one year
• $4,000 for a third or subsequent offense within one year Illegal fireworks can cause fires, injuries, property damage, and unnecessary emergency responses. They can also impact veterans, pets, young children, and others who may be sensitive to loud explosions.

Residents who witness illegal fireworks activity are encouraged to contact the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office non-emergency line at (209) 468-4400. For more information, visit www.mountainhouseca.gov. ###
