BACKGROUND

The Stierlin Road corridor provides a critical first -/last-mile link between the Mountain View Transit Center and the North Bayshore employment area. The importance of this corridor was established in the 2014 Shoreline Corridor Study, which identified several projects designed to increase the use of nonautomotive modes of transportation and support the planned growth of North Bayshore, the Transit Center, and downtown Mountain View (see Figure 1).

Plans and specifications for the project are complete and available for review in the Public Works Department. If the City Council approves the recommended actions, and a responsive bid within the project budget is received, construction is estimated to b egin in early 2023 after project clearance is received by Caltrans, which serves as the grant administrator. This will meet the Federal grant schedule requirements.
