Dear Mountain View Council,
I hope you are all
doing well, I am a resident of I am writing to express my concern and comments about the RV Parking issues on Ortega Ave.
As you know, there are a lot of voices talking about the RV issues of the Ortega Ave which was one of the agendized items last week. What I want to say is:
If the RV parking issue has no impact on our
residents, you won't hear so many complaints
about it. At last week's meeting, some people said the
RVs there weren't an issue. But keep in
mind every family is different, RV is not an issue for him/her, doesn't mean it is not an issue for other people. Their house/apartment
may not be close to the road, may not suffer from the
smoke (sometimes even marijuana) in the night time which comes from the RVs. They may not have little babies or small kids. But for me, I need to protect my little ones from these.
Right now the 72 hours parking limit rule is the only rule we can use to let the RVs move. And I think the city and police should support us as well, and should enforce the rule when requests/complaints come.
I heard some people in the last meeting saying that we should help the people living in the RV.
I totally agree with them, but not through allowing the RVs parking Ortega Ave, dropping the 72 hours parking limit law. They should help the RVs fight for better opportunities. They can fight for opening up all the roads in Mountain View to allow RVs parking. By doing them, RVs should be able to find the best places for them. Or fight for a new dedicated RV parking park with water/electric facilities. Or they should open their
garages or driveway to welcome
RVs parking that. There are plenty of things they can/should do, but not hurting other residents (may be different from them, like living with small babies/kids and very close to the road, suffering the second hand smoke at night time).
Many thanks
