TITLE: Crittenden Lane Trailhead—Accept Public
Improvements
RECOMMENDATION
Accept the public improvements at Crittenden Lane Trailhead for maintenance throughout their useful life.
BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS
“Acceptance” of private entity -installed improvements signifies that the private entity has satisfactorily completed improvements in the City’s right-of-way. Once accepted, the City takes ownership of and maintenance responsibility for the improvements.
A private entity (Google LLC) voluntarily installed improvements to the public trailhead starting at the eastern terminus of Crittenden Lane to the Stevens Creek Trail . The improvements included the installation of a new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) asphalt concrete trailhead, retaining walls, guardrails, landscaping, and irrigation. The public improvement plans for this project were approved for construction on March 30, 2021.

The public improvements for this project have been completed to the satisfaction of the City Engineer and are in accordance with the City’s standard policy to accept the improvements for maintenance.

FISCAL IMPACT
The public improvements were paid for by the private entity, Google LLC.
ALTERNATIVES
Determine that the recommended improvements are not complete or in conformance with City standards and do not accept the improvements.
PUBLIC NOTICING—Agenda posting. A copy of the Council report was sent to Google LLC.
