SUMMARY
An ordinance amending Mountain View City Code Section 19.72, which imposes a 72-hour parking limit on public streets and publicly owned parking lots, was introduced at a duly noticed meeting of the City Council on February 14, 2023. After taking public comment and discussing the proposed amendments, the City Council voted to approve the proposed amendments on introduction with two modifications and to schedule the ordinance for a second reading on February 28, 2023. The modifications directed by the City Council were as follows:
1. Delete all language requiring vehicles to “relocate to a different parking spot” wherever it appeared in the ordinance; and
2. Add language requiring the Police Chief to establish and promulgate written administrative guidelines governing enforcement of the 72-hour parking limit that are made accessible to members of the public.
The City Council’s modifications have been incorporated into the ordinance amending Mountain View City Code Section 19.72, and the ordinance as modified (Attachment 1) is hereby presented for final adoption on second reading. If approved, the ordinance will become effect ive on March 30, 2023.
