Subject: Pickleball - add in the CIP

Dear Mayor Hicks and Mountain View City Council Members, Thank you very much for your support in the lining of two tennis courts at Rengstorff Park and making them shared use for pickleball play. This is very much appreciated by many pickleball players in our community. During the preceding meetings there was discussion about future dedicated pickleball courts.
However, there is no funding allocated in the Capital Improvement Program for construction of permanent pickleball courts.
The sport of pickleball is growing at an amazing rate, and pickleball clubs are being formed by our
youth in middle schools and high schools because they have found a sport that is easy to learn, great exercise, and encourages team spirit. Many kids don't get a chance to be on a softball, soccer, football, baseball, basketball, or tennis team, but many kids excel and feel accomplished playing pickleball. It's a wonderful sport for our youth - not only for their physical health but for
their emotional health too.
I urge you to please include the design and construction money for at least 12 permanent pickleball courts in the Capital
Improvement Program.
Thank you,
Monica
25 year resident of Mountain View.
