Dear Council Members,
My name is Marc Adams and my family and I have been a Mountain View resident for the past two years.
We're excited to put down roots in this beautiful city as our daughter has just started kindergarten at Gabriela Mistral (and loves it).
We also regularly attend St. Athanasius
Church on Rengstorff and have felt welcomed from the start.
One of the things I love most
about this city and that gives me hope that we will be able to afford to stay is the Rent Stabilization Program.
In the short time I've worked in the Bay Area, my modest salary from a small nonprofit has not increased a dime.
For that reason, it is vitally important our rent
stays stable without large increases.
I'm writing you to encourage you to select Edith Gómez Marín as the next member of the Rental Housing Committee as I believe she is best positioned, as a fellow renter herself, to fulfill the spirit of the Rent Stabilization measure passed in 2016, ensuring families like my own have what it takes to put roots down in Mountain View.
Additionally, her work with the
Mountain View Day Laborer Center demonstrates to me that she is committed to those in our community who need that stability most.
What a wonderful opportunity her candidacy
represents in the effort to keep Mountain View a welcoming and diverse city.
