TITLE: Modifications to City Council Policy A-6—
Election of Mayor and Vice Mayor
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Mountain View Amending City Council Policy A-6—Election of Mayor and Vice Mayor to Clarify the Elections Process and to Add a Dais Seating Chart , to be read in title only, further reading waived (Attachment 1 to the Council report).
BACKGROUND
On February 28, 2023, the City Council voted to refer Council Policy A-6 governing the Mayor and Vice Mayor annual election process to the Council Policies and Procedures Committee (CPPC) for review and consideration of possible clarifying amendments to the policy.
The CPPC considered and discussed proposed amendments to Council Policy A -6 at its June 23, 2023, September 21, 2023, and November 28, 202 3 CPPC meetings. At the November 28, 202 3 CPPC meeting, the CPPC finalized its recommended amendments to Council Policy A -6 for City Council consideration.
The proposed amendments to Council Policy A -6 are shown in redline on Attachment 2 to this Council report.
FISCAL IMPACT
There will be no fiscal impact as result of adopting the proposed amendments to Council Policy A-6.

1. Do not adopt the proposed amendments to Council Policy A-6.
2. Provide other direction regarding amendments to Council Policy A-6.
