A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOUNTAIN VIEW AUTHORIZING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PARKING LOT NO. 11 FROM 7:30 A.M. THROUGH 3:30 P.M. ON SUNDAY, MAY 19, 2024,
FOR USE BY THE CITY OF MOUNTAIN VIEW FIRE DEPARTMENT TO SUPPORT THE 150TH YEAR PARADE AND CELEBRATION
WHEREAS, the Mountain View Fire Department has been providing dedicated service to the community of Mountain View since April 1, 1874; and
WHEREAS, the City of Mountain View Fire Department wishes to honor the sesquicentennial with a celebration and parade along Villa and Castro Streets, inviting the Mountain View Community to enjoy vintage and modern fire trucks; and
WHEREAS, the Mountain View Fire Department and neighboring fire departments will send fire apparatus to participate in the parade; and
WHEREAS, staging parade vehicles, including fire apparatus, is necessary before and after the parade to be conducted on May 19, 2024 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, Mountain View City Code Section 19.67 prohibits the obstruction from free use of streets or parking lots; and
WHEREAS, Parking Lot No. 11, located in the block bounded by Franklin Street, Villa Street, West Dana Street, and Bryant Street, is a suitable temporary location for parade staging for the Sunday, May 19, 2024, sesquicentennial celebration; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED: by the City Council of the City of Mountain View that, pursuant to Mountain View City Code Section 19.92, Parking Lot No. 11 is hereby temporarily closed from 7:30 a.m. through 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2024, as set forth in the recitals above and as m ay be amended and/or scheduled, to enable the Mountain View Fire Department use of Lot No. 11 for vehicle parade staging; and be it

FURTHER RESOLVED: that staff is hereby directed to post appropriate signage to notice the temporary closure of Parking Lot No. 11 and provide notification of the closure dates for May 19, 2024 on the City website.
