A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MOUNTAIN VIEW AUTHORIZING TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PARKING LOT 12 FROM
7:30 A.M. THROUGH 2:30 P.M. FOR UP TO 20 SUNDAYS, BETWEEN APRIL 14, 2024 AND SEPTEMBER 29, 2024, FOR USE BY THE CALIFORNIA FARMERS’ MARKET ASSOCIATION
WHEREAS, the California Farmers’ Market Association is a growers’ organization proposing to operate a certified farmers’ market in accordance with the California Department of Agriculture regulations in downtown Mountain View; and
WHEREAS, the California Farmers’ Market Association is willing to provide all necessary services to operate the market, including setup, cleanup, promotion of the temporary move, coordination with the surrounding neighborhood regarding concerns and complaints, etc., and is able to meet City requirements for insurance, liability, etc.; and
WHEREAS, Mountain View City Code Section 19.67 prohibits obstruction from free use of streets or parking lots without approval of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, between April 14, 2024 and September 29, 2024, Caltrain will be testing new electrified trains, resulting in the need to provide bus bridge service within the Caltrain parking lot, causing temporary conflicts with the long standing Sunday Farmer’s Market which occupies the Caltrain parking lot; and
WHEREAS, Parking Lot 12, in the block bounded by Bryant Street, Mercy Street, California Street, and Franklin Street, is a suitable temporary lo cation for the Sunday California Farmers’ Market; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED: by the City Council of the City of Mountain View that, pursuant to Mountain View City Code Section 19.92, Parking Lot 12 is hereby temporarily closed from 7:30 a.m. through 2:30 p.m. for up to 20 select Sundays, occurring between April 14 and September 29, 2024, as set forth in the recitals above and as may be amended and/or scheduled, to enable the California Farmers’ Market Association use of Lot 12 for a farmer’s market; and be it
FURTHER RESOLVED: that staff is hereby directed to post appropriate signage to notice the temporary closure of Parking Lot 1 2 and provide notification of select Sunday closure dates between April 14 through September 29, 2024 on the City website.
