Shoreline Boathouse Expansion Project 20-39
[email protected]
Dear City of Mountain View
I have been a professional mural artist for 23 years, and a licensed paint contractor since 2014. I have lived in Palo Alto and Los Altos since 2004. I have worked on dozens of large commercial and public projects including collaborations with the City of San Jose, Google.org, and Stanford University. Past projects include painting historical murals such as the City of Morgan Hill mural project scaling a full city block in downtown Morgan Hill and the Mishewal-Wappo mural on Second Street in Napa. During my tenure as a professional artist, with over 50 public mural projects in the Bay Area, I have seen the long tail of appreciation and visual impact the investment in beautiful art can have.

Enclosed is a proposal for the Shoreline Boathouse Expansion Project 20-39. I look forward to collaborating with you to create a mural that celebrates the diverse flora and fauna of the Shoreline Preserve.

Warm regards,
Morgan Bricca

Proposal for Artwork
I recommend making the subject of the artwork a celebration of the local diverse avian community that calls Shoreline Preserve home. Scaling up the sizes so the wildlife is larger than life, and executed artfully will bring a delightful, playful way to get a closer look at the birds most people are watching through binoculars. With the proposed budget, I would bring appropriately scaled artwork to all the areas available for mural art.

I would host at least one community input meeting, where key stakeholders and the community can share ideas for the artwork, and what they are most interested in seeing in the artwork. I would host another meeting where participants can provide feedback on the designs I create. I find this collaborative process is the best way to create not only site-specific artwork but community-specific art.

I would execute the artwork onsite, so no offsite fabrication is involved. A project of this size would take anywhere from three to six weeks to execute. I use Benjamin Moore Aura, which contains no VOC’s and is self-priming as the base layer for all exterior artwork. the details are completed with Golden acrylics. I put a final UV coat on my exterior murals to protect them from sun damage. I can also subcontract the application of an anti-graffiti varnish over all painted areas.

I currently maintain a commercial auto liability policy as well as a a $7,000,000 umbrella insurance policy required for a project that is underway at the Diridon Caltrain Station in San Jose, a project shepherded by the San Jose Historical Society.

Project: Freestyle in Raleigh, at the Aquatic Management Group in Raleigh, North Carolina “Morgan blew it out of the water. As a general contractor, I would say my decision to hire Morgan for this mural is one of the best decisions I have made in terms of impact of my work. Every kid will remember this mural as long as he or she shall live. Watching a child see the mural for the first time is an experience words can’t describe.

It’s mesmerizing to them. Adults too, for that matter. It’s a show stopper.

So much better than I could have ever imagined.

I would go out of my very busy way to recommend Ms. Morgan Bricca on every possible level, with no hesitation. Please feel free to call me if you are considering hiring Morgan but can’t quite take the leap. I will be glad to push you in.” Chris Carver, Aquatic Management Group in Raleigh, North Carolina Project: Dancing on the Square,at the new San Mateo Credit Union branch, Redwood City “Morgan offers a unique collaborative approach with her clients. On our project, she struck the perfect balance; she listened to our ideas and feedback but very much maintained her role as the creative expert, making us feel comfortable the entire time.

I would absolutely recommend Morgan with no hesitation. With all that she has done, she is going to find the right approach for just about any client.” Jonathan Meyer, VP, Marketing and Community Relations at San Mateo Credit Union Project: Tuesday Morning, 1720, on Second Street in downtown Napa “The mural you created for our building has been a
major attraction for both locals and visitors in
Downtown Napa. The
transformation of an eyesore
to a work of art has been nothing short of amazing.

Your attention to detail and sensitivity, and
bringing the Wappo tribe into the process, unified Napa's residents with the beautiful story of our history. Every day, as I watch children and
adults transported to an earlier time in the Napa Valley, I appreciate your ability to be the vehicle for their journey.”
