Was it the school district's independent
decision to limit their use of Cooper Park for
the next 45 years to recreation and open space,
or was this a condition that the city specifically
requested in the agreement to fund teacher
housing project?
Does the city have an explicit written
agreement to use the district's land as a one
acre dog park in Cooper park? Where can we
find this?

The residents of Gretel Lane have a concern On web le
regarding the Grant-Cuesta Sub-Acute and
Rehabilitation Center. The center does not have
enough parking and employees regularly park on
Gretel Lane all day and overnight, often idling cars
during breaks. The concern is that employees are
blocking the fire station driveway, the crosswalks and
driveways and are a big safety concern. This occurs
often when the employees are in a rush and also
drive recklessly in the area. The business needs to
provide sufficient parking or reduce staff to be a
better neighbor.

around Cuesta Park? The cars on Cuesta and

Why do the speculators in our neighborhood
have much more power than we do as existing
homeowners? Why don't you create
conditions to help people actually planning to
live in a house to buy homes instead of
streamlining the process for speculators? |
understand one company now has pre-
approval of its house plans, and all neighbor
comments are blocked. Is this fair to existing
homeowners? The speculator did shadow
surveys for the permit, but we are not allowed
to see them.
[Continues on next page]
Thank you for your comments.
Here is the downsize of letting speculators take over our neighborhoods:
1) It creates price inflation: 1691 S. Springer Road was purchased for $2.8 million in Feb 2024. The speculator is doubling the size of the house, and my real estate broker estimates it will be sold for $5 million. This will inflate the home prices for all homes sold in the future in my neighborhood.
2) The addition in size will potentially not be adding people, just square feet. So the City has done nothing to increase the number of people housed.
3) Design not longer has to fit the neighborhood. Speculators just want to make money, and leave. They don't care if their design fits the neighborhood, and apparently this is no longer a factor. All of us neighbors hate this house design. The planning department has told us that we are not allowed to submit any objections. The young couple who recently bought the house next door are devastated, for they had planned to save money and remodel their own house. With the dramatic change in the size and scope of this house, both of us, the nearest neighbors, are now questioning the status of our own homes.
But maybe this is the point.
4) Building a "high-end" home increases the speculator's profits, but it does nothing to protect a modest neighborhood for future first-time homeowners. Our street of small, modest homes is now threatened by having a "high-end home" in its midst. Due to the busy nature of S. Springer Road, prices have been about 10% cheaper, allowing people to qualify to buy a house who can't qualify a block away. But anyone who has followed the situation in the Rancho Rinconada neighborhood of Cupertino knows, once mega mansions are allowed in a neighborhood, you lose that modest neighborhood, for other high-end homes will quickly follow. Don't you have an obligation to the neighbors who are already there? Why not help keep our street an opportunity for real homeowners, instead of allowing a speculator to do whatever he wants, blocking neighbor comments, and inflating our homes prices even more?
Additional note: It has been announced that John McAlister has accepted a donation of $4,000 from one of these speculators PUPD

Why hasn't a traffic study been completed before proposing Pickleball courts at Cuesta Park?
What studies have you done regarding the noise impacts of pickleball? Neighbors of pickleball courts in other communi- ties report that noise travels very far--much farther than the perimeter currently being considered by the City. Just Google "pickleball noise", read the Al overview, and watch a couple of the YouTube videos.
The Cuesta Park parking lots are often filled, especially dur- ing summer weekends and events. Why are you waiting to
study noise and parking impacts until AFTER you have select- ed a site?

especially during summer weekends and
events. Why are you waiting to study noise
and parking impacts until AFTER you have
selected a site?

If the city is committed to arbor cover, why
have no trees been planted in the Cuesta Park
Annex in the last 10 years? What commitment
will the city make to planting more trees?
Also, at what point in time did the City stop
following the Cuesta Annex Master Plan? Or is
it being followed today?
Thank you for your comments.

We love the Cuesta Park
for its relaxed, unscheduled
spaces. We love the Annex
as it is the only open
space sath of t00 101, For
most rosicents it is eloser
Han Shoreline. Both should be
preserved for residents- both
human and wild creatures.
