Blossom Lane Adjacent to 747 West Dana
Street
RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a Resolution of the City Council of the City of Mountain View Authorizing Temporary Closure from Public Access of One Entrance to Parking Lot No. 6 from Blossom Lane, Adjacent to 747 West Dana Street, for Roadway and Utility Work for a Period not to Exceed Five Consecutive Weeks, to be read in title only, further reading waived (Attachment 1 to the Council report).
BACKGROUND AND ANALYSIS
On December 14, 2021, the City Council conditionally approved a P lanned Community Permit and Development Review Permit (Application No. PL-2020-133) for the construction of a new , three-story commercial building at 747 West Dana Street, including approximately 7,000 square feet of office space and 1,600 square feet of ground- floor retail space with frontage improvements along Blossom Lane and West Dana Street . On November 8, 2023, the Zoning Administrator approved a two-year permit extension for the project (Application No. PL-2023-162).
As part of the permitted scope of work, the applicant will remove and replace the existing Blossom Lane roadway surface along the project frontage , including a new curb, gutter, pavement, sidewalk, and a ramp for a trash enclosure . The contractor will also install a new storm drain lateral, originally planned to connect on Dana Street. However, during trenching, clearance issues were discovered that prevent connection in that location. To address this, the storm drain lateral will be relocated to Blossom Lane and will connect directly to the existing inlet within the street.
The roadway work, including the relocation of the storm drain, requires the temporary closure of one entrance to the City-owned Parking Lot No. 6, from Blossom Lane, to accommodate the safe completion of work (Figure 1). The storm drain installation will occur concurrently with the paving work. Access to Parking Lot No. 6 will remain available to vehicles and pedestrians via other entrances/exits during the construction period, including two entrances on Hope Street.
