MINUTES
SPECIAL MEETING – MONDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2025
ATRIUM CONFERENCE ROOM
6:00 P.M.
This meeting was conducted with a virtual component. All members of the Council Appointments Review Committee and all speakers participated in-person unless otherwise noted.
1. CALL TO ORDER
The Special Meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. with Chair Kamei presiding.
2. ROLL CALL
Present: Committee members Ramos, Showalter, and Chair Kamei
3. MINUTES APPROVAL
There were no public comments.
Motion—M/S Showalter/Ramos—Carried 3-0—To approve the meeting minutes of October 27, 2025.
4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE PUBLIC—None.
5. NEW BUSINESS
5.1 BOARD, COMMISSION, AND COMMITTEE OPENINGS
Deputy City Clerk Wanda Wong announced that all the applicants will be attending in- person or via zoom. She stated that there was a Parks and Recreation applicant who had not arrived yet.
There were no public comments.

November 17, 2025
The Committee selected the following time allocation and questions to ask each applicant:
Senior Advisory Committee
The Committee interviewed Michelle Maguire, Madhu Paul, and Marisela Perez and asked the following questions:
1. 30 seconds: Why do you want to serve on the Senior Advisory Committee?
2. One minute: What do you think would be likely areas of particular focus for you on the Committee?
3. Two minutes: What would you like to see the Senior Advisory Committee do?
Parks and Recreation Commission
The Committee interviewed Sarah Dondysh, Renee Fitzsimons (virtual), Sumesh Raghavan, Ben Sharma, and IdaRose Sylvester and asked the following questions:
1. 30 seconds: Why do you want to serve on the Parks and Recreation Commission?
2. One minute: What do you think would be likely areas of particular focus for you on the Commission?
3. Two minutes: What do you think should be the priorities of the Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan?
Motion—M/S Showalter/Ramos—Carried 3-0—To appoint IdaRose Sylvester to the Parks and Recreation Commission for the January 1, 2026 -December 31, 2029 term and appoint Michelle Maguire to the Senior Advisory Committee for the January 1, 2026-December 31, 2029 term
6. COMMITTEE/STAFF COMMENTS, QUESTIONS, COMMITTEE REPORTS—None.
7. ADJOURNMENT
Chair Kamei adjourned the meeting at 7:08 p.m.
