Hello City Council,
I understand that you are likely to approve re-zoning of 1702 & 1704 Miramonte Ave. and 777 Cuesta Dr. at the December 16 meeting.
I live in Cuesta Park, so am on the edge of this proposed zoning change.
I understand the need for more housing and it does make sense to me to re-zone this spot, but I am very concerned about the potential height of buildings there. This is a pretty small area set on the edge of a sea of R1 housing, and a seven story building would really look out of place. Is it possible to restrict height to 3 or 4 stories in this area?
Thank you for your consideration.

Councilmembers,
I’m a nearby resident writing about the proposed rezoning at 1702 and 1704 Miramonte and 777 Cuesta.
This area is one of the busiest student walking and biking corridors in the city. Traffic at Covington and Miramonte is already heavy during school hours, yet it appears no site-specific traffic review or Safe Routes to School analysis was done for this rezoning.
These parcels also sit inside a single-family neighborhood, and it would help to understand more clearly how the proposed zoning fits the surrounding context.
I support adding housing where it makes sense. In this case, I’m simply asking the Council to delay action until a brief traffic review, a school-safety look, and a clearer explanation of neighborhood compatibility can be added to the record.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Eric

Councilmembers,
I’m writing as a resident who lives near the Miramonte and Cuesta intersection. I understand the City’s responsibility to add housing, but before rezoning these parcels, it seems important to look more closely at how this change would affect this particular area.
The streets around this site are already very busy during school hours, with many students walking and biking to several nearby schools. It doesn’t appear that a traffic study or a Safe Routes to School review was done specifically for this location, even though this corridor is heavily used by children every day.
These parcels also sit within a single-family neighborhood, so it would be helpful to understand how the proposed zoning fits into the surrounding area.
I’m not opposing new housing. I’m simply asking the Council to pause this item until there is more information about safety, traffic, and neighborhood fit.
Thank you for considering this request.
Sincerely,
Waverly

Councilmembers,
I’m writing as a nearby resident to share a concern about the proposed rezoning at 1702 and 1704 Miramonte Avenue and 777 Cuesta Drive. Before moving forward, it seems important to take a closer look at how this change would affect traffic and student safety in this specific part of the city.
This area sees a very large number of students walking and biking to several schools each day, and the morning congestion at Covington and Miramonte is already substantial. From the information available, it doesn’t look like a traffic study or school-route safety review was done for this location, and those seem like key pieces of information for a decision of this kind.
The parcels are also surrounded by single-family homes, so it would be helpful to understand more clearly how the proposed zoning aligns with the surrounding neighborhood.
I support adding more housing in Mountain View, but given the unique conditions on this corridor, I think it would be reasonable to pause this rezoning until the City has had a chance to complete some site-specific review on these points.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Steve F.
