Attended the Riverside Transit Agency Commission Meeting. Meeting Recap:
Ridership is up
Total ridership for January was up 8.2% compared to the same time last year. Fiscal Year 2024 total ridership was also up 12.6%.
Equity Day Success
In honor of Equity Day, February 4th RTA gave 8,574 free rides on all local, CommuterLink, and GoMicro busses. In addition, the front seat was reserved on every bus in honor of Rosa Parks’ birthday.
Honoring an RTA Hero
RTA honored the heroic actions of Coach Operator Deja Cage. Ms. Cage witnessed a massive traffic accident at a nearby intersection as she waited for her customers to board. A pickup truck had plowed into a tanker truck, and both were on fire as the drivers ran away. Without hesitation, Ms.
Cage evacuated her bus and radioed dispatch. Her quick thinking kept her passengers safe.

GoMicro Pilot Program Update
After one year of service to the San Jacinto and Hemet area, the GoMicro Pilot Program has been a huge success. This program has transported more than 55,000 customers with an average rating of 4.7/5 stars. RTA staff will continue to monitor ridership, travel patterns, and adjust as needed to further improve efficiencies and meet growing demand.
Autonomous Shuttles
The City of Riverside has recently approved a partnership with shuttle company Ohmio to move its international headquarters from New Zealand to Riverside. RTA was approached by the City and asked if the Agency would be interested in providing the safety operators for a 2-year pilot program. Thanks to the Board’s approval, staff will begin conversations with the City of Riverside and Ohmio for a potential operations and maintenance service partnership. We are excited to provide updates in the upcoming months.
