Chief of Police Anthony Conrad said, "We now have a crime ranking following our transition to NIBRS. I am happy to see we are remaining at the top as Murrieta grows. The secret to our success is our community. Yes, we have the support of our elected officials and the city, but the strong community relationships and open communication channels with our residents have been instrumental during these past 3 years. We continue to prioritize our victims, solve crime and hold those accountable that commit crime. With a much more comprehensive data collection system in place like NIBRS, it was gratifying to see the hard work of our officers and staff resulted in a 1st and 3rd ranking for 2022!" As the City of Murrieta celebrates this achievement, we recognize that continuous efforts are essential to sustaining these positive results. We remain dedicated to hiring the best officers, dispatchers and professional staff. As we see the rate of violent crime increase in California, we know that our hiring practices, collaboration, innovation, and community engagement will continue to keep Murrieta safe.
