Appreciation
Luncheon
started
with
presentation
of
colors
by
JROTC,
we
recognized
four
heros
and
enjoyed
patriotic
entertainment.
Hundreds
of
military
veterans,
their
friends
and
family
dined
among
the
2023
flags
.
In
additition
to
the
veterans,
Murrieta
City
officials
and
members
of
many
local
rotary
clubs
were
in
attendance.

Marine
Corps
248th
Birthday
Celebration
Every
November
10th,
U.S.
Marines
past
and
present
gather
to celebrate
the
birthday
of the
Corps
through
the
reading
of the
Commandant's
message
and
the
sharing
of a cake.
A sword
is
used
to cut
the
cake
as a reminder
that
they
are
a band
of warriors
committed
to carrying
the
sword,
so
that
our
nation
may
live
in
peace.
Their
custom
is to serve
the
first
piece
of cake
to the
guest
of
honor
-Colonel
Jerry
L. Durrant,
USMC
(Ret.)
this
year.
The
second
piece
is given
to the
Oldest
Marine
present
who
then
passes
it to
the
Youngest
Marine
present
to
signify
the
passing
of wisdom
and
experience
through
the
generations
of
Marines.
