Library Advisory Commission Meeting Minutes August 19, 2024 6:00 PM REGULAR MEETING
CALL TO ORDER
The meeting was called to order by Chair Meeker at 6:00 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Present: Commissioner Linda Hicks, Commissioner Terry Gavitt and Chair Jeffrey Meeker
Absent: Commissioner Susanna Macias and Vice Chair Ken Goltara.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chair Meeker.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA
Action: It was moved by Commissioner Hicks and seconded by Commissioner Gavitt to approve the agenda for August 19, 2024. The motion carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Commissioner Hicks, Commissioner Gavitt and Chair Meeker Noes: None
Absent: Commissioner Macias and Vice Chair Goltara
ADMINISTRATIVE UPDATE
JoLene Vert gave a presentation on the Lunch at the Library program and Commissioner Hicks commented how remarkable it was.
Melvin Racelis gave an Children's Area Expansion update and spoke about floor plans and renderings. He stated that the exterior is fully designed but not funded yet and then spoke about fundraising needs.
Melvin Racelis gave an update on a variety of topics with thanks from Commissioner Hicks for all that the staff does. Chair Meeker asked what might be attributed to the higher numbers at the Summer Reading Challenge and Mr. Racelis responded that perhaps it's due to going out of the traditional framework with programming and/or possibly the return from Covid-19.
Chair Meeker stated that he was impressed to see all the support on the Expansion; thinks it'll be successful. He also noted that he sees the Foundation out in the community.

It was moved by Commissioner Hicks, seconded by Commissioner Gavitt to approve Consent Calendar Items 1 and 2. The motion carried by the following vote:
