Kassen Klein: Spoke on Planning Commission decisions to ensure certainty, and consistency for developers, and stakeholders involved. Ensuring that projects meet the development code requirements versus what the public or City Council wants.
DISCUSSION
Planning Commission Advisory Body Review
City Council Members, Planning Commissioners, and City Staff introduced themselves.

Jarrett Ramaiya, Deputy Development Services Director
Mayor DeForest spoke on the partnership between the City Council and Planning Commission; and the importance of communication between the two bodies.
The City Council, Planning Commission, and City Attorney, conversed on the following topics pertaining to the Planning Commission’s role as an advisory board:
Communications between the City Council, Planning Commission, and City Attorney; Challenges faced by the Planning Commission;
Improvements and training for Commissioners;
Advance communication on findings and specific traffic noise studies; Best practices when deviating from recommendation of staff and utilizing the City Attorney when legal questions arise; Development Code language focusing on community needs; and State law and mandates regarding housing and developments.
Agenda reports ambiguity which may result in misinterpretation by the Planning Commission.
Mayor DeForest and the City Council Members provided closing remarks.
