May is “National Bike Month” and

”
throughout
the San Francisco
B
ay Area
;
and
WHEREAS
,
the
City of Napa Bicycle Plan identifies
as a
goal
of
the Plan to
increa
se
the
mode
share of bicycling
; and
WHEREAS
,
bicycle transportation is an integral part of the multi -
modal transportation system
planned for by
federal, state,
regional and local government agencies
; and
WHEREAS,
bicycle commuting and
switching
short trips from driving to biking
provides
benefits such as
increased health and fitness, reduced traffic congestion, and can
save money by reducing costs
related to gas, maintenance, and depreciation; and
WHEREAS,
the City of Napa is proud to be hosting an “Energizer Station” on the morning of Bike to Work
and
School
Day at 1600 First Street in front of the City’s
Community Services Building; and
WHEREAS
,
the City of Napa encourages citizens to ride their bikes to work, school, and for
other
trips.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED

do hereby proclaim, in recognition of this event,
