Helena Family Resource Center and the American Canyon Resource Center Additional Questions
What is your understanding of the role and responsibility of this board? I understand my role is to understand the needs of our senior community and provide advice to the City Council and Parks and Recreation staff. Any advice would come from developing short and long term goals for the Senior Center and how best to meet the goals.

Have you ever attended a meeting of this board? If so, how many? no
What duties of this board are most interesting to you?
I know our senior population is growing faster than any other segment of our population. I have learned from working at Mentis that one big issue for seniors is isolation and loneliness that can lead to depression and anxiety. I think the City of Napa Senior Center has a large role to play in addressing this issue. As a senior myself, I am passionate about being part of the solution by serving on the Senior Advisory Council

What activities of this board are least interesting to you? I have served on many committees and organizations in different capacities. There are always administrative tasks to be completed. This is not particularly interesting to me, but I believe it is necessary to accomplish goals.

What programs or projects would you like to see improved or implemented? I feel that there are many wonderful programs now at the Senior Center. However, it appears to be somewhat non user friendly to try and determine what might interest someone. I would like to help improve how a senior who might not have access to a computer can find a class or program and easily sign up.

How would you approach improving these project(s) or program(s)? First I would review and digest the current Napa Older Adult Assessment to understand what our seniors need. I would survey older adults about the sign up process to see what would make it easier. If funding was necessary to implement changes, I could help staff find grant opportunities.

Are you involved in any organizations or activities that may result in a conflict of interest if you are appointed to this board? I currently work for Mentis. Mentis has a robust older adult program and I would need to make sure there wasn't a conflict. I am a fundraiser and not involved with confidential information about clients that could be participants at the senior center. I am also retiring from Mentis at the end of 2024 so this potential conflict would go away.
