PROCLAMATION
Recognizing June 2025 as Pride Month
WHEREAS, Pride Month is about celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, recognizing their history and advocating for their rights and inclusion. It’s a time to raise awareness about issues facing the community and to promote understanding and acceptance; and WHEREAS, the tireless dedication of advocates and allies has led to increased support for LGBTQ+ rights. Celebrating Pride Month as a community also promotes awareness and visibility, fosters dialogue, strengthens alliances, builds acceptance, and advances equal rights for LGBTQ+ individuals; and WHEREAS, the theme for Napa Pride 2025, "Celebrate in Solidarity | Celebrar en Solidaridad," standing as a beacon of joy, belonging, and resistance. Pride is not just a celebration – it’s a bold act of visibility. These events create opportunities for connection and care, bringing together LGBTQ+ people and allies to stand up and show up, together; and WHEREAS, the City of Napa supports continued efforts to create inclusive environments – free from discrimination and prejudice – which are essential to ensuring that LGBTQ+ people are treated with dignity and respect in all areas of life, including education, employment, healthcare, and public service.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Scott Sedgley, Mayor of the City of Napa, together with the City Council, do hereby proclaim June 2025 as “Pride Month” in the City of Napa. We recognize that diversity is one of our greatest strengths, and that embracing the full spectrum of gender identities and sexual orientations enriches our community as a whole.
