RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NAPA, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE NAPA POLICE CHIEF TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF A POLICE SERVICE DOG (K9) FROM DEREK AMARAL WHEREAS, the Napa Police Department has identified operational benefits in maintaining three active Police K9 teams to support patrol response, investigative operations, and public safety at major community events; and WHEREAS, Derek Amaral has offered to donate a Police Service Dog (K9) to the City of Napa for use within the Napa Police Department; and WHEREAS, the donation consists solely of the K9, with no conditions or personal gain, and acceptance of the donation will strengthen the City’s public safety resources; and WHEREAS, the City Council has considered all information related to this matter, as presented at the public meeting of the City Council identified herein, including any supporting reports by City staff, and any information provided during the public meeting.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Napa, as follows:
The City Council hereby finds that the facts set forth in the recitals to this Resolution are true and correct and establish the factual basis for the City Council’s adoption of this Resolution.
The City Council hereby accepts the donation of a Police Service Dog (K9) from Derek Amaral for use by the Napa Police Department.
The City Council hereby authorizes the City Manager, or designee, to execute any documents necessary to effectuate acceptance of the donated K9.
This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Resolution was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Napa at a public meeting of said City Council held on the 20th day of October, 2026, by the following vote:
