Please Read this ALOUD: Thank you to the City Engineer for carrying out another analysis of the speeding and traffic situation on Cleveland Avenue and adjusting the speed limit down to 30 MPH. The next step will be to add increased Police Traffic Unit enforcement and traffic calming and beautification of the streetscape to make Cleveland Avenue a safe and attractive asset we can be proud of.

At this time, I am against the change to a Charter City for National City. As I listen to the Council's arguments for a Charter, I will listen closely for the real motivations of the speakers.

WHAT IS IT YOU WANT TO FIX? PLEASE- City Attorney/Clerk- prepare the Power Point with large enough text to be readable by people in City Hall. The small text in several slides (14,16,19 for example) will be impossible for the public in attendance to read and will make your presentation much less credible.

Public Comment from Mr. Ted Godshalk for the City Council for Agenda item 12.1 on November 21, 2023:

In the City Attorney’s report for this item, he asks WHAT IS IT YOU WANT TO FIX? Please be clear and concise with your answers. Words choice matters.

At this time, I am against the change to a Charter City for National City. This proposal appears to be self-serving for the incumbent politicians who are proposing to change the system. My Council person, Ms. Luz Molina correctly addressed this false need for PRIMARIES in our city elections. I do not think the other council people listened to her logical discussion of the issue in which she gave many reasons to not make the change to a Charter City. Mr.

Rodriguez and Mr. Bush, listen again to the comments she made at the last meeting. Thank you.

As I listen tonight to the Council's arguments for a Charter, I will listen closely for the real motivations of the speakers. The public will eventually see the real victors in this proposed change. Honestly answer the question: WHAT IS IT YOU WANT TO FIX? And then tell us how you would assist special interests that will manipulate the Charter.

PLEASE- City Attorney/Clerk- prepare the Power Point with large enough text to be readable by people in City Hall. The small text in several slides (14,16,19 for example) will be impossible for the public in attendance to read and will make your presentation much less credible.

On behalf of Southbay Community Carson california, we’re a Chartered city of almost 100,000 residents we’ve been working very well under this charter system! Note: locally have more say so and control City Council now listens better to its residents! Our agendas move forward better and Mayor needs to pay attention to “hot issues “… in closing l think and believe you consider changing over to a charter city but let the residents vote next year on it and make final decision? Have town halls meetings in 2024 thur out city!….peace, blessings Mr. Pulido social justice environmentalist happy thanksgiving
