Mr. Ronny Soriano, Code Conformance Officer
Victor Uribe, Parks & Recreation Department
Dionisia Trejo, Special Event Permits
RE: URGENT ACTION REQUESTED ICO PAUL MAURER SHOWS & PAUL MAURER SHOWS, LLC Hello Mr. Soriano, Mr. Uribe & Ms. Trejo,
As per your request Mr. Soriano, I have been working regarding the concerns raised about Paul Maurer Shows. I personally thank you for your time and understanding, allowing me to submit this “letter of explanation” regarding the two items that seemed to have caused our Special Event TUP Application to be “pulled” from the last City Council Meeting agenda on November 21, 2023. I am sincerely hopeful this letter takes care of any further questions and can get our Special Event TUP back on the early December city council agenda for consideration.
Regarding Paul Maurer Shows & the so called, Paul Maurer Shows, LLC. Paul Maurer, the SOLE OWNER of Paul Maurer Shows since the existence of this company has always operated in the State of California as a “Sole Proprietorship” company. What happened back in the 90’s, was Paul Maurer (Paul Maurer Shows) considered to change over to an LLC company, but changed his mind. However, because of Paul submitting the original application and not completing or formally withdrawing it, the California Secretary of State (SOS) and Franchise Tax Board (FTB) kept his application as “pending” and never closed the application. Since finding this information out from the City of National City and submission of the Special Event Application (TUP), we have made contact with both the (SOS) and the (FTB) and working on correctly withdrawing the original application. Again, to be clear, Paul Maurer (Paul Maurer Shows) has never operated under such name as Paul Maurer Shows, LLC, funded, finalized, or received any documentation from either the (SOS) or (FTB) regarding the pending LLC Application.
Be advised that we now have our CPA for Paul Maurer Shows working on withdrawing the original application, to clear up this matter immediately.
Regarding Paul Maurer Shows not being certified or a registered business with the San Diego County fictitious business records department. Upon being informed of this matter by Mr.
Soriano, I immediately contacted the County of San Diego and submitted the necessary application form, sent payment and now waiting for the San Diego County records department to record the name and post it online. After speaking with the records department clerk, of San Diego County, she advised me that the process should take about 2-weeks for it to actually be posted online with the County’s website under Paul Maurer Shows.
In closing, I can absolutely assure all of you and the City of National City that Paul Maurer Shows has ALWAYS operated our business in a most professional way, never using any other business name other than Paul Maurer Shows. I have also attached letters of recommendations from our larger state events as proof that we are a bonified “Sole Proprietorship” company and using only the name of Paul Maurer Shows.
Mr. Soriano, because of the urgency and timeline to obtain approval for our carnival event, and with the City Council preparing to go on holiday break, I would be grateful and appreciative that out Special Event Application (TUP) be place back on the next agenda at the next Council Meeting next week. Time is of the essence. Your advanced understanding & rapid assistance is greatly appreciated. Thank you all for your help & consideration, wishing you all a wonderful holiday season!
Most Sincerely,
Don Maurer
