I'm sure you all have been made aware of the Voice of San Diego piece on the newly detected reservoir contaminant. We should know more in the next few months about whether or not the levels stay elevated. What have the conversations been, or what is the plan to support residents in the near future if the tap water is deemed toxic?

It is time for the City Council to require a full accounting report of the costs related to the flooding of January 2024. Some legal claims have been paid. Consultant firm PPC, Wright Construction, and others have been given work to rebuild storm drains and other watershed infrastructure and you and the public do not know the total costs and how they will be paid for.

The City Council/Mayor Department costs about $1 million each year. This includes your pay and generous health and pension benefits. This year there is a budget deficit and the public still does not how severe it is because of a lack of transparency from you and your staff. You should take NO MORE than a 2% pay raise. Anything more is irresponsible decision making. for Second Reading and Adoption of an Ordinance of the City Council of the City of National City, California, Establishing the Compensation of the Mayor and City Councilmembers. in Regular City Council Meeting 2/18/2025 6:00:00 PM

National City is one of the few cities in the county that provides public comment over Zoom.

This is specially important for many seniors who are not able to come to meetings or individuals with families that want to participate and let their voice heard. Please keep public comment on Zoom available for the community.

Since our difficult experiences with Council meetings during and after the COVID pandemic, I have grown to dislike using Zoom. I do believe the meeting policy should still allow for the public to participate with comments through call-in and Zoom options. It is an accommodation for people who cannot participate in person for a variety of reasons.Do you need to cut off the public’s ability to communicate with you and your staff? This change is a bad idea and shows you do things for expediency.

I agree with the spirit of this item. However it exposes to city to several foreseeable liabilities.

It's also an unfair use of taxpayer funds. many will find it objectionable. A better option is to find attorneys who could do an initial pro bono consult on individual cases. The city can direct people to these resources. It accomplishes the same goal without the liabilities and cost to the taxpayer.

I remind you that only two current Councilmembers have voted to support the sale and public use of marijuana in National City. The "Weed Project," that Mr. Bush so vigorously supports has cost the city hundreds of thousands of dollars so far and is still in COURT! Marijuana is known to be a health hazard, and at times, very dangerous. Do not modify the ordinance at all.

That is the wrong action to take. You could do even more damage. for POLICY 105 REQUEST - Updating Cannabis Ordinance to Change Opening and Closing Times to Match the State - Requested by Vice Mayor Bush in Regular City Council Meeting 2/18/2025 6:00:00 PM
