Subject: Request for Contract Amendment for the Obernolte Water Service Replacement and Street Improvements Project
Dear Ms. Raasch:

TKE Engineering, Inc. (TKE) has provided engineering design services to the City for the Obernolte Water Service Replacement and Street Improvements Project.

However, as the project has developed, the scope of the design portion of the project exceeded our original scope of services. The following is a description of the additional scope of services provided to complete the project design and project approvals with Caltrans, as directed by City staff:
• Caltrans Local Assistance: TKE assisted with completing multiple exhibits, forms, and associated technical assistance to obtain approval from Caltrans Local Assistance to provide construction funding and approve the project for construction for the project. This work was not a part of our original scope. • Waterline Design: During design, the City elected to reconstruct the existing waterlines on Fourth Street and Fifth Street since they were undersized and in poor condition. As such, TKE completed design for replacement waterlines and appurtenances to be completed prior to the roadway improvements. This work was not a part of our original scope.
• Separate Plan Sets: The project was originally bid with the proposed street improvements, and waterline and service replacements as one project.

However, the bids received included elevated pricing for the waterline work.

As such, the City elected to bid the street and waterline work separately. TKE was directed to separate the street and waterline work into two separate plan and specification packages for bidding. This ultimately results in a significant cost savings to the City during the second round of bidding.

The total budget increase to complete the additional services described above, based on actual time and materials and as directed by City staff, is $12,288.75. TKE is available to meet with City staff to discuss the requested extra work and budgets upon request. If you have any questions, please advise.

Sincerely,
Steven W. Ledbetter, P.E.
