Subject: Item 1 O.f. - Funding For Fall Festival/Ms. Newman Float Agenda Item: 1 O.f.
City staff has been contacted by members of the Fall Festival committee, which are interested in renovating the parade float that is utilized by Ms. Newman and her court. They have indicated an interest in creating "a new and improved float that will be used not only during the parade but also in other events around the West Side." In 2015, the City Council agreed to donate up to five thousand ($5,000) dollars towards renovating the float when it felt it would be reasonable to offer to match private/business donations raised by the group. The committee did not identify an amount being requested nor provide a cost estimate for the renovation.

Dear Members of the Newman City Council,
We hope this letter finds you well. The Newman Fall Festival is excited to announce its plans to renovate the current float that is showcased each year during the festival's parade. As we celebrate our 52nd year of this cherished event, we want to ensure that our float represents the spirit and pride of our community.
We are reaching out to the City Council for assistance in funding the renovation of the current float. Our goal is to create a new and improved float that will be used not only during the parade, but also in other events around the West Side. This updated float will not only represe_nt the spirit of Newman, but it will also provide an opportunity for the community to come together in support of a common goal.
The Newman Fall Festival is a nonprofit organization that has been serving the community for over 50 years. Our festival brings together residents and visitors from near and far to celebrate the rich culture and history of Newman. Our organization relies on the support of local businesses, organizations, and individuals to make this event possible.
We are requesting a donation from the City Council to aid in the completion of the new float. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated and would go directly towards the renovation and construction of the float. This float will not only be a representation of Newman, but it will also serve as a symbol of the city's commitment to supporting community events and initiatives.
Thank you for considering this request. We appreciate your continued support of the Newman Fall Festival and the community as a whole.
Sincerely,
Executive Committee
